Day 32 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer For Courage"

"For I can do everything with the help of Christ who gives me the strength I need."
Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

Let's Pray:

Lord, I thank you for helping me during this time of praying specifically for my husband! I thank you for all the answered prayers and even the answers I can't see yet! I know your timing is perfect and I'm OK with it. I pray this morning that you will help (_____) do everything he needs to do with the strength you give to him. I pray you will give him the strength to make good decisions and follow your leading throughout the day today. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,
Our husbands are being bombarded everyday at work to "cut corners" and "make a sale--at any cost". The phrase "Business is Business" is the excuse for almost any below-the-belt business dealings. We need to pray that when our loves are pressured to give in to anything morally questionable; they will have the courage to say "NO" to it.

Day 31 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for His Faith"

"When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it and you will be given what you ask for."
Mark 11:24 (GN)

Let's Pray:

Lord, I thank you for all you've done in our marriage! I pray that when (_____) asks for something, he will believe that he's received it and you Lord will give him what he's asked for. I pray you will put within (_____) your desires and dreams for him. I pray your spirit will begin to speak to his heart guiding his thoughts and aligning them with your purpose for him. Lord, place within his heart an unquenchable thirst to follow you. I pray you will speak through me to (_____) confirming the thoughts you've already put in his heart. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,
Do not underestimate the power you have when you're in prayer for your husband. We need to listen to Mark 11:24 and believe in our hearts that when we ask God to align our husband's thoughts and desires with his, HE WILL.

Day 30 of 40 Days of Prayer: " Prayer For Good Time Management"

"Teach us to make the most of our time, so that we may grow in wisdom."

Psalms 90:12 (NLT)

Let's Pray:

Dear Lord, I pray that you will teach (_____) to make the most of his time so that he may grow in wisdom. Help him to remember what matters most in life. Help both of us to carve out time each day to spend time with you, time together, and time with our family. If we are doing too much, show us what to eliminate. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

Here's a quote from a book I just read: What Matters Most by Doug Fields.

"God has given us the exact amount of time we need in a given day, week, month, and year. If we're too busy, we're not correctly prioritizing our opportunities or managing the time with which God has entrusted us--therefore something must be wrong. I'd bet my left arm that the something wrong isn't God. And if it's not God, who or what is it?"

If we're constantly adding more to the list of "To Dos" that we already can't finish, then guess what...WE'RE TRYING TO DO TOO MUCH!

Day 29 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer For His Thought Life"

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life."
Psalms 139:23 (NLT)

Let's Pray:

Dear Lord, I am so thankful that you are gentle as you mold us and teach us the right way to go. Thank you so much for sending your Son to die on the cross our sins so that we can have a second chance! I pray that you will search (_____) and know his heart; test him and know his thoughts. Point out anything in him that offends you, and lead him along the path of everlasting life.

I pray you will do this in my heart, too. If there is any sin in my life that is keeping you from hearing my prayers, please bring it to the surface so that I might be forgiven. I want my prayers for my husband to be effective and I pray you will continue to mold me into the wife my husband has always dreamed of! In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

Though we are in prayer for our husbands; all these prayers can and does apply to us, too. If our hearts are muddied by sin then our prayers won't be heard. We should always ask God to reveal to us where we need to do some spring cleaning in our thoughts as well. He's not going to surprise us with something, its usually stuff we already know we have an issue with. He's very gentle and softly nudges change within us. Because of Philippians 2:13; I know He is the one placing the desire in my heart to obey Him and the power to do what pleases him. I am relieved to know that I am not relying solely upon my own "flaky" self to do what is right. That is such good news, isn't it??

Day 28 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer For a Pure Heart"

"The LORD your God will cleanse your heart and the hearts of all your descendants so that you will love him with all your heart and soul, and so you may live!"
Deuteronomy 30:6 (NLT)

Let's Pray:
Lord, Thank you for hearing me when I call on you sincerely. I pray that you will cleanse (_____)'s heart and the hearts of all his descendants so that he will love you with all his heart and soul, and so he may live!! Bring to the light any sin that may be holding him back from a true closeness with you!!

Clean out any and all lies he's been listening to in his heart about himself. I pray you will wipe clean any negative tapes he's been playing over and over in his mind about his past failures. I pray that today he will feel renewed and forgiven. Thank you. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

We may think our husbands are totally secure in who they are and sometimes they are. But I encourage you today to consider that maybe your husband has some insecurities and if he does he's playing them over and over in his mind. If we can remember this we can help by praying for him and building him up with encouraging words. AND, we can try to minimize our urge to criticize.

I know a couple of people in my life that are perpetually encouraging and I love talking to them! They are always noticing the good things about me. Could your husband list you as someone he "loves" to talk to? Would he say that you are always noticing the "good" things about him? Honestly, I don't really think that my husband would say that about me.

I'm going to get going...I have some "NOTICING" to do... : )

Day 27 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for His Life's Calling"

"So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do."
2 Thessalonians 1:11 (NLT)

Let's Pray:
Lord, Thank you for listening to my prayers for my husband! I pray this morning that you will enable (_____) to live a life worthy of your call. May you give him power to accomplish all the good things his faith prompts him to do. Lord, inspire him and give him the courage to step out and take risks when you ask. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,
This should be our top prayer for our husbands and for us! One of my biggest flaws is my "follow-through" I have the best intentions and brightest ideas of how I'm going to do this or do that for God but life seems to get in the way. Does this happen to you? I love that there is a specific verse in the Bible written just for people who struggle with actually DOING what they set out to do. I hear God inspiring me to do lots of things but sometimes I just don't end up finishing them. This verse gives me hope that with God's help, I can do the things he's called me to do. Hope it encourages you, too! : )

Day 26 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for His Obedience"

"Teach me, O LORD, to follow every one of your principles. Give me understanding and I will obey your law; I will put it into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found."
Psalms 119: 33-35 (NLT)

Let's Pray:
O Lord, teach (_____) to follow every one of your principles. I ask you to give him understanding so he will obey your law. I pray he will put it into practice with all his heart. I pray you will make him walk along the path of your commands, for that is where his happiness is found. I pray you will keep me from distracting him from following your will. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,
It is important to point out that the scripture is clear WHO is doing the teaching and it is NOT us. It is God doing the teaching. I have found that when I try to take over God's job, I mess it up big time! My husband resents me when I play the "Holier than thou" card. I am much more useful to God when I remain focused on my own growth. I heard a counselor say once "Sometimes the wife just needs to get out of the way so God has a direct shot!"

We are much more effective on our knees in prayer for our husbands than on our soap box preaching to him.
