Day 25 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for His Influence"

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts 1:8 (NLT)
Let's Pray:

Lord, I thank you that you gave us your Holy Spirit to be our helper! I pray that (_____) will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on him and I pray he will be your witness in our community, our country and wherever you lead him. I pray he will be sensitive to your calling in his life. Give me your words of encouragement and help me to know how to motivate him to follow where you might be leading him. Thank you. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

I know I forget so often that when I got married, I became one with my husband. I was just reminded while talking with God today that when we pray for our husbands we are also praying for ourselves because God sees us as one united through marriage. This gave me so much encouragement and motivation to keep praying each day for my husband. I hope it encourages you, too!! :)

Day 24 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for Wisdom and Knowledge"

"Now give me wisdom and knowledge so I can lead these people in the right way,
because no one can rule them without your help."

2 Chronicles 1:10 (NCV)

Let's Pray:

Lord, thank you for bringing us this far in our marriage! I pray for (_____) that just like Solomon, you will give him wisdom and knowledge so he can lead his family in the right way, because no one can rule without your help. I also ask that you will give me wisdom and knowledge of how to be the best helpmate to him that you have called me to be so that I will be his biggest asset in our family and future. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

I came across this verse this morning and feel we need to be praying and asking God for wisdom and knowledge for our husbands. If Solomon asked and God answered his prayer, I know God will listen to our prayers for our "sweeties", too! God tells us to ask him and then expect him to answer...SO DO IT!

Day 23 of 40 Days of Prayer: "God Can Do Far More"

"God, by his mighty power at work within us, is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of--infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes."

Ephesians 3:20 (LB)

Let's Pray:

Lord, thank you so much for giving us your amazing promises in the Bible! Thank you for all you've done over the past month and thank you for what you're doing that I can't see right now. I pray that your power at work within (____) is able to do far more than he would ever dare to ask or even dream of--infinitely beyond his highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.

I pray you will fill him with your desires for him and help him to see the talents you've divinely placed in him and show him your purpose for his life. If he's personally struggling with doubt or feelings of disappointment in himself, I ask you to place your words of encouragement on my lips that I might speak life into his heart. Help me, Lord, to speak only what will build him up and keep me from ever hurting him with thoughtless criticism or careless sarcasm. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

Our men are often portrayed as and even enjoy us thinking of them as our "Macho Hunks" who can take on the world; but sometimes we start to think they can do anything and this mind set can begin to look like expectations in their minds. When we start to become discouraged about something we think they should be or do, we need to remember that inside they are human just like us and are as needy as we are. So lets give them extra grace when they fall short of our expectations today.

Day 22 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for Strength and Endurance"

"We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father, who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people, who live in the light."
Colossians 1:11-12 (NLT)

Let's Pray:

Lord, thank you for hearing my prayers for my husband! I don't understand all that is going on but I know you understand and I am thankful that you love us both and want only the best for our marriage. Lord, I pray for (____) that he would be strengthened with your glorious power so that he will have all the patience and endurance he needs. May he be filled with joy, always thanking you, who has enabled him to share the inheritance that belongs to your holy people, who live in the light.

Wives,

If you are feeling doubtful this morning or overwhelmed with sadness because of a difficult situation in your marriage; know that God knows all the details and knows exactly what you need today. It says in Matthew 6:33 that He will give us all we need from day to day if we live for him and make his kingdom our primary concern. Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed with a marriage issue and I just want to give up and go to my room and crawl in bed. But I know that if I just keep my focus on God and what he has called me to do, He will give me the strength I need to do it.

Day 21 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Fill Him With Your Holy Spirit"

"...Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you."
Ephesians 5:18b (NLT)

Let's Pray:
Lord, thank you so much for hearing my prayers for my husband! Thank you for reminding me that I need to trust in you and know that you are in control. I pray this morning that (____) will let your Holy Spirit fill and control him. Fill his mind with encouraging thoughts. Place in him a desire to be closer to you and to fulfill your purpose in his life. I also pray you will fill my mind with your Holy Spirit and place a deep desire within me to do your will. Thank you so much, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

As we continue to pray for our husbands, we should also be asking for God to transform us into the wife He wants us to be for our husbands. If God has been speaking to you about areas where you need to change, I encourage you to give it your best. If you have hurt and resentment in your heart toward your husband; tell God about it. He will not be surprised. Ask him to help you work through it and begin to love your husband no matter how he may have hurt you.

God has helped my husband and I work through some really deep wounds in our marriage. I cannot share specifics but I will say that most marriages do not make it through some of the stuff we've been able to make it through. God rekindled within my heart a new love for my husband. A love even deeper than the deepest of wounds. I don't know exactly how God does it but that's what makes Him "GOD" and not me! All I did was ask, I mean, BEG, for help and be willing to change. YOU can do the same!

Day 20 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for Perseverance"

"You must accept whatever situation the Lord has put you in, and continue on as you were when God first called you. This is my rule for all the churches."
1 Corinthians 7:17 (NLT)

Let's Pray:
Lord, thank you for reminding us that we should keep moving forward even if there are challenging circumstances in our lives. I pray that you will help (____) to accept whatever situation you've put him in and continue on as he was when you first called him. I pray you will give him wisdom and courage to move against any fears he may have. Thank you, In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

We've hit the 20 day mark!! I'm sure you've been experiencing some difficult circumstances and some hopeful circumstances. Remember, if it took many years to get where you are right now, some changes will take more than 20 days to take place. So do not give up! The most challenging issue in your marriage IS worth praying over and believing God will be faithful and bring you through it.

Day 19 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for a Firm Faith"

"But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed by God to proclaim it."

Colossians 1:23 (NLT)
Let's Pray:
Lord, thank you for giving us your truth in the Bible! I pray this morning for (_____) that he will continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. I pray he will not drift away from the assurance he received when he heard the Good News. The Good News that was preached all over the world. Lord, I pray you will clear (_____'s) mind of any lies he's been listening to. Create in both of us a desire to grow closer to you through reading your word and praying together. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
Wives,
Do you ever feel the urge to push your husband to do something, like I have done so many times?

DON'T!
Husbands have the natural desire to lead and if we are always jumping ahead of them we are short circuiting that desire. I am learning, slowly, that when I feel that urge, to redirect it to God instead. And, if its God's will, He is more than capable of placing the desire in my husband's heart. I have discovered that God doesn't need my help as much as I once thought. : )
