Day 18 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for a Transformed Mind"

"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."

Romans 12:2 (NLT)

Let's Pray:

Lord, Thank you for all you've done in my marriage so far and I am excited about what is to come. I pray that (____) will not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let you transform him into a new person by changing the way he thinks. Then he will learn to know your will for him, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Thank you Lord. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

So how's it going? Good? I pray that this blog is helping you to get into a habit of praying every morning. I would also encourage you to get a journal and start writing down everything you are thankful for. Also write down all your prayer requests. You'll be amazed as you look back over the previous pages and notice God's hand in the everyday details of your life!!

Day 17 of 40 Days of Prayer: "There is Power in God's Word"

"Study this book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do."
Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
Let's Pray:
Lord, I thank you for giving us the Bible to read and learn about how much you love us! I pray you will help (____) to study the Bible continually. I pray you will help him to meditate on it day and night so he will be sure to obey everything written in it. Then he will prosper and succeed in all he does. I ask you to also help me to remember to meditate on your word everyday, too. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

I encourage you this morning to be reading the Bible everyday. Nothing else will give you more hope and encouragement than the Bible! When I am sad and depressed about a circumstance in my life, the challenge seems to fade as I read over and over how Jesus turned so many dismal, impossible situations into miracles.

There are so many promises for us to stand on in the Bible. I would challenge you to start reading just one chapter in Proverbs everyday, if you don't already read the Bible everyday. Any verse that stands out to you, write it down on an index card and keep it with you in your purse. Read it over and over through-out the day. This is how you begin to memorize scriptures.
I promise you, there is power in God's word and if you are filling your mind with it, your heart will begin to fill with hope and encouragement.

Day 16 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Ask for God's Blessing"

"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request."

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NIV)

Let's Pray:

Lord, thank you so much for giving us wonderful examples in the Bible of how much you love us! I pray this morning for (____) that you would bless him and enlarge his sphere of influence! Let your hand be with him everyday, and keep him from harm so that he will be free from pain. Lord I ask that you would also bless our marriage and enlarge our sphere of influence. I pray your hand will be upon our marriage. Thank you. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,
I challenge you to keep praying everyday for your husband! God hears your prayers and is waiting for you to ask for his help. We may have our doubts but God is looking for just a small amount of faith. It says in the Bible that we only need faith the size of a mustard seed. Know that God IS working on the inside, no matter what we may see on the outside.

Day 15 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for His Priorities"

"The thing you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what God wants. Then all these other things you need will be given to you."

Matthew 6:33 (NCV)

Let's Pray:

Lord, Thank you for hearing my prayers every morning. I lift up to you (____)'s priorities. I pray that he will desire doing what you want the most in his life. Thank you for promising that if he does that then you will provide for all his other needs. I pray that you will help me to align my priorities with your will, too. Though we may see things differently, I ask you to give us unity in our desires and decisions. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

There's no doubt that "issues" have surfaced since we've begun praying consistently for our husbands. I want to encourage you to not give up. Do not allow yourself to stop praying if things get hectic or difficult. In fact the Bible tells us that when times are hard to pray HARDER! When you start working out, there is always pain and discomfort in the beginning. But if you keep at it, the desired results are inevitable.

We need to have that same faith in God when we pray. I do not mean to say that if we pray for a red corvette long enough it will show up in our driveway. I am saying that if we keep praying to God for His will to be done in our marriage, He is faithful. He may not answer our prayer in the way we expect. In fact, in my personal experience He has yet to answer a prayer exactly the way I imagined it to be answered. It's always way better than I imagined it! So keep praying!

What is 40 Days of Prayer??? You're asking...It is a special time you set aside each day for period of 40 days where you pick scripture verses specifically chosen for a special person and turn them into prayers to God.

Day 14 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for His Words"

"Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them."

Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)

Let's Pray:

Lord, Thank you for showing us through your scriptures just the right words to use everyday. I pray that (____) will not use foul or abusive language. Let everything he says be good and helpful, so that his words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. I pray you will also help me not to use foul or abusive language either. I ask for you to help me to only speak what will encourage others and build them up. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

I have no problem speaking with encouragement except when I'm responding to something hurtful someone has said to me. My first reaction is to spew back something equally hurtful. In fact this just happened to me a few days ago. I know, you're shocked... Don't be. Though I may speak to women's groups and co-lead a high school bible study; I am still a "work in progress".

After hurling a really hurtful threat back, God used the next several hours to make me realize that I was wrong for responding that way. My argument that he was hurtful first didn't change his mind. So I apologized.

If like me, you struggle with this, maybe God's been telling you to apologize...Just do it. God will bless you for your obedience.

Day 13 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for Understanding of God's Deep Love"

"And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."

Ephesians 3: 18-19(NLT)

Let's Pray:

Lord, I pray that (___) would have the power to understand, as all your people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep your love is. I pray he will experience Christ's love, though it is too great to understand fully. Then he will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from YOU. Lord, I pray that he will feel your power today. I pray he will feel your loving arms around him, wherever he is right now. I thank you. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

We can also be encouraged that we don't have to understand God's love fully either. That's what makes him God and not us. Maybe your husband struggles with believing God really loves him like mine does. In his mind, it just doesn't seem logical. Well, it doesn't seem logical because it isn't.

We often find ourselves believing this lie instead: "He doesn't really love you. He couldn't, he's perfect and you've done some really mean things so you have no chance" We go over it and over it in our minds using our limited mental abilities concluding that it just doesn't make sense so we don't believe its real.

I know from my own experience that the thoughts I allow my mind to meditate on are what dictate my actions. If I believe that a person's love is fake, I will be defensive, I will distance myself from that person, and I will definitely not trust them.

This is precisely why we need to be on our knees everyday for our husbands praying for them to understand how much God really loves them. The more they begin to understand how much God really does love them; they will be changed forever.

Day 12 of 40 Days of Prayer: "Prayer for Inner Strength"

"I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong."

Ephesians 3:16-17 (NIV)

Let's Pray:

Lord, I pray for (____) that you will empower him with inner strength through your spirit. Then Christ will make his home in (____'s) heart as he trusts in him. I pray also that his roots will grow down into your love and keep him strong. Thank you Lord for giving me verses to pray over (____)! I ask for you to continue to empower me each day as I keep praying for my husband. Thank you so much! In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Wives,

This verse also assures us that God is the one doing the empowering and we need to get out of his way. Sometimes we can make things worse by trying to help God do his part. God tells us what he wants us to do but we have to be careful not to get ahead of God by "manipulating" circumstances. My husband can smell manipulation a mile away and chances are, yours can too.
